today was special, a moment in time to be marked. life is rarely so tangible, so linear yet cyclical in a way that causes my soul to celebrate its majesty rather than to shirk at its unknown. the correlations between the events of the day were evident and sweet, a day aligned.

a lovely morning with women of God, of strong faith, hope and love, of charming humor and thoughtful questions. to walk out of a place with greater awareness that my heart is aligned with others’ in this community is deep joy.

a chiropractor appointment, a skillful, desired, gentle adjustment. no money exchanged because, she explains, “it’s our way of giving back.” she straightens my spine and lifts my countenance. to experience the wonder of a body aligned is deep comfort.

a meeting with lovers of Christ, intent on speaking life and hope into specific seasons of others’ lives, diligent to consider our neighbor more important than our assumptions, our opinions, our very selves. to collaboratively embark on a meaningful task aligned in spirit and mission is deep encouragement.

a brief moment for kisses with my baby and coffee with my mom and chats with my husband amidst dinner preparation, needs to address, tasks remembered yet still marked incomplete that must descend to tomorrow’s list. to find ourselves busy yet cooperatively aligned, forging ahead, spinning yet strengthening all the while is deep peace.

a gathering of college students indwell our kitchen and living room, cherished ones who claim Jesus as supreme, who ask us questions and grasp with vigor the bits of wisdom the Holy Spirit allows to emerge from our mouths, who cause us to laugh and hold our baby and make us feel so very at home in our home. to be shown by the Lord our dreams and our day to day beautifully aligned as we usher the students out with a promise that they are welcome, even asked, to return is deep satisfaction.

He makes our paths straight.

He called us here and filled our cups and showed us the margins and i am more structured yet free, measured yet unencumbered, than i have been in some time.

He gives us a mission, a Savior, a cause. we assemble under His banner over us.
